Aoi Suzume
Under Construction

“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.”
Aoi was born in a village near Kugane. She was a normal girl who went to the port city whenever they needed anything big and was happy with her normal life. She was not anyone special, she had no interest in magic or in fighting at all and enjoyed the peaceful days with her family. Until the Garleans invaded and changed her life forever. Her father joined the fight against the invading forces, but sadly died in the battle for the castle. But that was not the end of the young girl's losses.
Like any other village that had aided in the revolution or in the fight in any way against the garleans they recieved punishment. Aoi had to watch as her mother and the villagers were killed before her eyes. She had only survived by sheer luck, coming back from a trip from Kugane with medicine for her mother she had managed to hide away in one of the houses.. but she would not make it out unscathed. The garlean soldiers did not stop at killing the villagers, they set the houses on fire, wanting to make sure that there were no survivors.
She would have died if fortuna had not been on her side, but the damage had been done, to her face as well as her body marring with slight burn marks.
But that was where her luck seemed to run out. She had managed to make her way back to Kugane and tried to find a place to live, a working place to start a new life again, to build something so that she could survive.. bot no one had wanted to hire her. No one had wanted to hire the scrawny, dirty and burnt girl that she had become.
Eventually this was what forced her to try and seek help and attendance with the coven. Sadly Aoi never managed to even try this route. On her way to the little island where the coven was located she got captured by some men, which turned out to be pirates of Eorzea who gathered females from Hingashi and other areas.
The raen girl was forced to dance and fight for her new masters amusement.
There was only one thing holding her sane, only one thing keeping her from just giving up.. a tiny sliver of hope that she could still escape. A window of an opportunity opened up when the pirates ported in Limsa Lominsa. Aoi used the chance to tug herself away from the one who had been watching her and managed to disappear into the masses. It was thanks to the arcanist guild who had hidden her away in the basement, behind carbuncles that she had managed to keep hidden from her captors. It was through them that Aoi found out that she was gifted in using aether, it was through the help of the old guild master that she learned that she had an affinity for both black and white magic, but that her affinity for black magic was better than the other one and that she could find out more about that in the thaumatrage guild in Ul'dah.
Learning some healing magic as well as how to summon a carbuncle Aoi settled to head to Ul'dah. To learn about the magic in her. To learn to protect herself. So that nothing like that would happen to her ever again.
Before she left, she got a present from the old guild master, a small black chocobo. This had been the first gift she had recieved in Eorzea and that was the first time.. since the loss of her mother that the young girl, which was now a young woman, cried. She thanked the arcanists as well as the guild master for all they had done and started her journey to Ul'dah. She had managed to gamble and save up some money thanks to the tips of the rouge's in Limsa who she had befriended and took a ship to Horizon. From there she continued her way to Ul'dah.
Though she got accepted in the guild to learn about the black magic within her she learnt quickly that Ul'dah was very different from Limsa.. this was also the place where she lost the last of her innocence and learnt that if she wanted anyone to help her she could not count on anyone, that she could only count on herself and only herself.
This mentality of hers kept her alive.. but also twisted her, making her enjoy chaos, enjoy the destruction she could cause with her magic.
It took quite a lot of time and effort from other people to mend her mind and heal the wounds which had caused her to act out like that. She still could cast very destructive magic but they had managed to also teach her about balance. Which was why Aoi focused on white magic. With her now grown Chocobo she made her way to Gridania to learn the ways of healing, not only for herself this time but for others, for the ones who had saved her from her inner darkness and managed to save her from destroying herself in the process.
After managing to find some balance she heard rumours about a new way of fighting using both magics, with patience and luck she had found the elder miqo'te and managed to learn the craft of red magic and fighting with a rapier from him. Finally Aoi had managed to find some semblance of peace within herself.

Aoi is well known as a redmage on the Ala Mhigan frontlines. She is someone who most healers try to avoid partying up with because of her reckless nature.
Others who have a more keen eye and can see past her facade know that there is something dark hiding in her. Not because of her personality but that there is darkness around and hidden inside of her. Though the purple haired Hingan girl seems to have either dismissed those claims or not paid them much attention with the obvious statement that people were "overreacting" or that she was "fine".
Instead of being well known as a powerful red mage on the frontlines people have given her the nickname "Bloodmage". Because at the end of the day she is covered in red. In either the blood of the enemies she has slain.. the beasts she had felled or her own injuries. Or mayhap all three of the above? It is anyones guess which one it is or if it is all three of them.
______
Aoi gives of a very dark aura if someone with aethersight looks at her they can see the darkness around her, though she is not possessed, her family has done a pact with a powerful voidsent whose compensation is to take the souls of the family members as payment.
Her ancestors were powerful void mages who had managed to get off the voidark before it had been overrun by the voidsent.
Though she herself has no knowledge of this and neither did her parents. They had been enjoying a peaceful life in a remote village.
With the events that will happen she is eventually gonna go through a lot of changes and relinquish her rapier as she picks up a scythe instead.
